portals on a swb montero

has anyone ever done or heard of anyone puttin a sas with portals front and back...just think that would be cool as hell and wanted to know if anyone has a build thread up on it or has done it on theres and wants to lend a hand

Ha Ha no, russians i think and i forgot the site it's on but they have a few on there. On a short wheel base you could do volvo portals but probably not the unimog ones because their pinion is really long and you wouldn't have much room for a drive shaft and the pinion conversion.

No one that I know of but it would be cool! I think sneaky is right, though. I'd have to check with the military vehicle guys down the street to be sure. If I remember correctly, Volvo axles were what we were thinking, too. They were cheaper and there were more parts available - at least here in CO - and they weren't too humongous. I finally backed out because of the weight it was going to add.
