mighty max factory limited slip

what type of limited slip was used in the factory rear's of the mighty max in 1994? i did not find the orange tag, but the truck has all of the other options, sliding rear, a/c and all the other options for that year that i can see so far. will lift the rear in the air and see if i can tell that way.

but if not what options do i have to lock the rear? i think it is a 8" rear end with 3.9 gearing but not sure

It all depends on what motor you have.

If you have the 4 cylinder, then you have a 8" rear. You could source an LSD out of an early 4 cylinder Montero/Raider or go with a locker from ARB.

If you have the V6, then you have the 9" rear. you could source an LSD from a V6 Montero, or better yet an air locker from a 94-99 Montero. ARB also makes an air locker for the 9" rear axle.

cool, it is a v6 4x4, which is the better locker the arb or the montero air locker? who makes the montero air locker, arb? also in 1994 you could only get the 4x4 reg cab and it had to be the v6, also the last year they imported the 4x4 mighty max into the us

here is a pic of the truck, how do you luv them red wheels? lol.. not bad for 400 bucks, the woman said somebody told her it was needing a crank shaft..etc.. she didnt speak english too good, so i couldnt really make out what she was saying, but i let it run for a good 30 min and it seemed ok to me, to be honest i dont care, i can always scrape it and make money, but i think the body is too good for that

the arb is better.

what would the parts list be? just a quick run down with year models that can be used

only bad thing about the truck is not knowing its history, something is telling me though a aftermarket locker may have been istalled in the rear, when testing it out in the gravel parking lot, i did notice the driver side rear wanting to grab and release while driving in a tight circle, will try and lift the rear tomm and see what i find

If the rear diff hasn't been messed with, check on the rear side for a sticker that mentions the use of special oil. Second, the inside rear tire have the most torque when turned that direction, might give a false impression of LSD. My Raider and MM both leave two tire marks in a straight line.
