D.D.Machine has been building the highest quality planetary doubler kits for more that 10 years and over that time we have become not only the oldest manufacturer but also the largest. We stock every part for every doubler we have manufactured and to ensure the highest quality we build all are parts in house on modern CNC equipment.

This is our newest planetary doubler. We started on the design more than 8 years ago, but up until late last year we did not have any free time in the shop to build them. Do to adding another full 4 axis cnc milling center to the shop that we have dedicated to just building doublers.

Assembly
To build a simple and bullet proof crawl box all one needs to do is find a cheap and commonly available new venture tranfercase that has the same input spline as your transmission output.
Some of the cheapest ones are:

Spline count
21 spline Jeep 231
23 spline Jeep 231 , Dodge 231 or 241
27 spline GM 231 or 241
31 spline Ford 271 or 273
32 spline GM 241

Just unbolt the two case halves, then pull the 4 bolts holding the front seal retainer, pull the snap ring and the planetary assembly comes out. Cut the ring gear out and press it into the new billet case. ( 12 ton press works ) slide the planetary assembly in and install the snap ring and seal retainer.
Total time to build it is under a hour

The over all lenght is 6 7/8" for the np-205 style and 7 5/8" for the Dana 300 style.

We stock new 4340 cromo output shafts in 21,23,27 31 and 32 spline

shipping to the continental US is a set $40

Thanks

We have over 40 of the billet box kits on the shelf in the np-205 style and about 20 kits in the Dana 300 style.

To kick off sales and get this new product moving we are marking them down to $599 for this first run only.

when there sold the price goes back to $699

Thanks

yes the new billet box setup for the Dana 300 does use all your planetary parts from a stock 231 and it is set up so you can flip the Dana 300 upside down and run it for a drivers drop. it well still have the shifter box at the top and give you clocking every 4* so you can clock it down some or clock it up flat.

The billet box for the dana 300 is 7 5/8" mounting to mounting and the normale box4rocks setup is 7 7/8" so its a 1/4" shorter ,,, its as short as one can make to do to the shifter hub hitting the Dana 300 input.

yes it comes with a new steel shifter fork and all hardware you well need.
you only need to pull and reuse the ring gear, planetary assembly, snap ring , front seal retainer, and the slider hub.

We make a new billet steel shifter fork to replace the plastic junk the stock cases used, after seeing all the busted up plastic shifter pads we went with steel just like the np-205, np-203 and Dana 20 used for years.

The billet box is 7.875 dia and the shifter box sticks out from it 1.3"
so from the center line of the dana 300 input it would be 5.2375" to the top of the shifter box. I would think a cordan joint would clear just fine but you throw a tape on it to check.

Question for Duffy or anyone who can answer.

I'm assembling my box now. Shifter fork is bare metal but has a hole on either ear of the fork. Is this supposed to have a plastic slider piece swapped onto it or am I supposed to run the bare metal fork on the hub?

If a guy had a dodge manual trans with a 29 spline output and wanted to use a 32 or 31 spine 205 would you guys offer anything to connect the two? Very cool product btw!

finding a np-241 dodge 29 spline case is hard. seeing how all the 241 cases used the same planetary parts I would find a cheap GM np-241 and just swap out the 27 or 32 spline input with a new 29 spline input shaft from JBconversions . check the year on the case and if its pre 1994 use part # 1458 and for 1995 to present its part # 1459. the new inputs are only $150 and take about 15 min to swap out.

I have the shafts in stock to run 31 spline ford np-205`s or GM 32 spline 6 bolt np-205 cases

FYI the S10 and S15 used a lot of the np-231 27 spline cases and 99% are marked HD on the tag ( meaning they have the 6 planetary gear set ). its the same gear set they used in the np-241 cases and being that there a odd 5 bolt cases there REALY cheap.

I have made fig 8 to 6 bolt round adapters in the past and should have a new run done in the next few weeks.

How much longer is the 8 to 6 adapter and what is the ballpark price? Longer isn't a huge issue for me as long as I can get the crawl box, adapter, and intermediate shaft to work together.

I am VERY interested in this setup. I had fully planned on the normal 241/205 crawlbox setup but this is much better IMO. Can you still front shift the 205 with this crawlbox & 205?

The adapter plate is only 3/8" thick. flat head screws going both ways , no threads to pull out.

Look at the first three pics and you can see the cutouts so you can shift a ford or gm np-205 out the front, no mods needed to the np-205 at all.
( 4th pic is the billet box for Dana 300 )

The np-205 billet box is built just like the dana 300 billet box in that it gives you clocking every 4* so you can run it flat or clock it down some to get better front driveline angles.
