NP231 Planetary crawlbox (box4rocks)$499

This is a simple kit that takes a np231 Transfer case and makes a low cost crawl box out of it, It uses the front half of a NP231 case that you provide and in about a hour or so of work you can have a crawl box that will lower your gearing by 2.73 to 1 ...
Just take a 231 case with the right input spline count to fit your trans output
(21 or 23 spline for the jeep guys) and (27 spline for the GM guys) and pull it apart , lay the big plate on the front casting and mark it about 1/2 inch "PAST" the left edge of the plate and cut it there, then file or grind the block off plate that comes in the kit to fit where you cut it off. Next tig weld the block off plate to the front casting, And thats it!

Its just that simple to make a crawl box ( doubler ) out of a np-231

All of the parts are made in house on CNC equipment
The plates are made from 6061-T6 alum and we make all are shafts out of 4340 cromo steel then through harden them.

What sets us above the other kits?
Simple
We offer clocking every 6 degrees meaning 60 clocking positions
(they offer 3 positions)

We are the leader in sales and support with more than 500 kits sold to date.
( they`re at about 25 ) We have shipped more in a single day than they have "EVER" shipped

We offer mid shafts in 21,23,27,31 and 32 spline
(They offer 23 spline only )

We offer two oil drains and a fill hole. so even if you flip the crawl box you can still fill and drain it
( they offer "NO" way to fill or drain the box)

We offer a "full" kit
we ship you the block off plate and the shifter rod you will need.
(They don`t only not provide them they want you to gap the 8" where the block off plate goes with out any bolts to seal it) just asking for a leak and a burned up gearbox

Here at D.D.Machine we do all the work in house on our equipment, We have been splining shafts longer than
the other guy has been alive. the other guy jobs his parts out to other shops. so what that means to you is simple ( We have a huge investment in our equipment and our products ) we`re not some part time side hobby.
We are there to support you before and a long after the sale.

There $499 and a set $15 shipping in the US

We keep a good stock on the shelf and ship orders 2 or 3 times a week.

Thanks
Duffy

Duffy, would you please list the overall length of the 231/300 setup compared to the stock 231 w/ original slip yoke? I would appreciate it. Also, IIRC you sell a kit for shifters for a flipped D300. Do these shifters work with the doubler kit?

Thanks,
Charlie

the 231 crawl box and a D300 comes to the same length as a "stock" 231 with the slip yoke. I have has some guys say its 1/4" shorter and others say it 1/4" longer . Lets face it its a slip yoke were you slide it to well change.

As for the D300 flip sticks I make there for this crawl box setup. Well a lot of guys just run a flipped Dana 300 with out the crawl box and they work and fit up for that setup to.

Thanks

I do have a few np-241 "GM" drivers drop kits left, if your dodge 241 is a drivers drop I would think its the same kit.

Thanks

I am interested in a 241 Driver drop kit with a 32 spline shaft, is the cost still the same?

I am going to be bolting a 6 bolt 205 to it, I know I will have to customize some things, like new shift rails for rear shift, any other suggestions you have?

Thanks Duffy!

Duffy,

What do you suggest for a support for the crawl box combo?

I still have a few of the 241 drivers drop setups in stock. There the same as the 231 only the big plate is larger. and I have a few 32 spline shafts on the shelf to go with them.

All you have to do is bore the back side of the "rear" shifter rail for a seal and make a new shiter shaft out of 3/4" drill rod. I have been using W1 steel
it runs about $20 for a 3 foot chunk,

I well sell of the last few 241 kits I have on the shelf for $475 + $15 shipping

I don`t know what setup your looking at 231-231 or a 231-D300 setup
but 90% of the guys run a D300 setup flipped or non flipped.

What I have done and it works out great is build a plate that comes of the back side of the D300 thats hooked to the front output steel cover and to a couple of the bolts on the rear tail housing then put a plate under the crawl box up to the stock tail housing mount.
then just run a mid 70`s GM np-203 stockT case mount under it to a X member

( The trick with T case mounts is to remimber that when you stick torque
to the rig it trys to push the T case thrue the floor)
so run a simple strap over the T case to keep it from pulling the mount apart.

Thanks
Duffy

Has anyone found a way, ever thought of or figured on putting a Dana 18 transfer case behind one of these? *scratching my head - smoke coming out my ears* I really need a double offset transfer case (both outputs front and rear offset to the pass side) --- unless some one has a way to convert a Dana 300 to dual offset!

Doug

"DD" I sent you an email via the Fleabay auction......

There is no simple way to run a D18 /D20 type T case with this setup do to the input gear is held by the output shaft of the trans or the tail housing with that T case setup.

h some screwing around I think one could use a tailhousing off a TH400 to D20 setup and make there "OWN" adapter to go to the big plate.
I do stock the 32 spline shafts that you would need to go from the crawlbox to the th400 tailhousing.

The TH400/ D20 was used in a ton of the 1970`s Waggys.

Thanks
Duffy

the few 241 kits I have left are for a drivers drop 241 case, I don`t know It one can just flip them over and tap out the oil holes from the other side to use with a pass drop 241 case or not.

but finding a used driverd drop 241 case should be easy and cheap.
Thanks
Duffy

I already have your 231 kit, but didn't realize that you offered a 32spline output shaft for the doubler.

How much for just a 32 spline shaft if I decide to upgrade?
