As long as it's the LS1/Truck PCM and you have the harness to match. If it's the early LS1 PCM, then no.

Should be good then. Its running my 02 5.3 right now. Runs pretty decent on a ls1 tune!

Cant imagine how much better it will run with a good 5.3 tune it it!

One last little question i guess. Am i correct in my understanding that torque management only applies to vehicles with electronically controlled transmissions right? And its only "activated" during shifts right? So, with me running a th400 TM would just be deleted right? Thanks alot by the way for taking the time to answer my questions before i have even spent money with you! Shows alot about your customer service right there!

Depending on engine/trans combo, and mileage, I will either leave all, some, parts, or none of the torque management. Even manuals from the factory came with some torque management.

A 5.3 in front of a turbo 400, I would delete all TM, everywhere. I feel a 400 can handle the power of the 5.3 nicely. Same with a built 4l60e/700r4. But if it's a stock, high mileage 4l60e, then I'll keep it and maybe enven add TM to keep the trans alive.


Of course all of this goes out the window when I'm specifically told what to do

Hey Wayne,
What can you do for a stock 2002 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 with a 6.0 in it? First I need it to be reliable then economy based - power based tune. We use the truck as a spare vehicle for towing and general hauling. Has 130k on it now.

Yup, can do all the above. I can also set it up so that towing on hills is easier, with less applying of the brakes....

Sounds good. I don't really need 'specific' instructions. If you tell me more power, I know what to do. Or better fuel economy, or we tow a lot in the hills or....

wayne on the harness i got back from you it has a wire that says 4x4 switch, im using a np241 with the vss in the tale housing so do i still need to use the switch?

question on TM - what is the seat of the pants difference on a 5.3l with and without TM? thinking of getting my 4l60e built for abuse

That's what it's for, so the PCM knows when it's in 4lo and recalculates because of the 2.72:1 ratio change.

No, I don't believe so.

Shift points are based off of TPS and MPH, or if WOT, RPM's and MPH.

Now, on the newer DBW rigs, I'm not sure if it's commanded or actual TPS. If it's commanded, then it just goes off the pedal. But if it's actual, then yes, it could be TM controled. Since TM can vary actual, regardless of commanded.... But I don't believe it's this way....I've never logged/monitored to see.

I'm in CA for a funeral. Looks like I will be heading home today. I have all of my packages put on hold at the shop, so I should get them all Friday, if I can get the hold released. If not, Monday.

Yes. Just put a return label and $150 in the box

Put a piece of paper in the box with all of your info on it, including your phone number. On that piece of paper also include the specs of your rig and the rig that the motor/trans/PCM/TCM came from - ie year, motor, trans, gear ratio, tire size, etc. And anything special you want me to do - ie delete o2 sensors, increase idle RPM's, change shift points, give it more power, etc.

Also put on the paper if it's a new install or if I'm modifying an existing install. If it's an existing install, let me know on the paper if there were any issues - ie check engine light, running weird, etc.

If you don't know, that's ok. But the more info you give me, the better our chances for success are.

Wayne this is Jacob, I tried to send you a message yesterday about the 2000 ecm flash and I dont see it, So i will send another one. You should receive the ecm today around 10:30am, can you flash and send back today, please delete out the air temp sensor and the idle control sensor. I for got to fill out a return slip so If you can give me a fax # or a email I can send you a the retun label.
