CR250 tech....sorta

What is the best 2 smoke oil?

Should I run straight AVGAS and oil mix?

Best power mods?

I have had a ported, polished, and bored YZ and it hauled serious ass for an 80/92cc bike, I ran shitty outboard oil in it. I can get AVGAS all kinds of places and can't get good ethanol free 91/93 most places I go however, with all the little airports out here I can find 100LL. The bike is a 2000 (PWK carb) has a pipe and will be getting a JD kit and possibly a spare top end just in case. Will also be buying a set of wheels most likely WARP 9's from mountainpeakspowersports so I can throw a paddle on the factory rear and a decent front on the factory wheel. What else should I get

Hey Sturgell how do you like the CR250 so far? My buddy has a 98 with super low hours for $1000. It has been in storage for the last 4 years so it'll need some TLC to get back in top shape. Anyway I am 5'6" and wear 30" inseam jeans am I going to be way too short?

Use to run a YZ250 a few years back with some v-force 2s, FMF expansion and silencer, and mild port work. I ran Golden Specro for a few years and then Amsoil. I had excellent luck with both, both burned clean, only switched to Amsoil due to availability issues with the GS. How I miss my 2 smoke.

Seen some promising results with people running the amsoil. Going to switch to it soon.

Really like my 2000 cr250 for woods/trail riding. Suspensions been tuned for it, flywheel weight, gnarly pipe etc.

It came with a bunch of Maxima which will get ran before I buy any more, I'm seriously contemplating Amsoil but I fail to see what makes it so much better since it is sold like Mary Kay. You would think if it is so bad ass places would carry it.

Upcoming is how to fix a dented pipe, I held speed a little too long and couldn't get it shut down enough to make the corner and the result was the bike laying on top of me and a nice dent in the pipe.

I foresee a lot of sore mornings with this thing.

I started with 20psi, initial heat took that to 30psi and ended up at a little over 50 gradually increasing pressure while heating.

i always ran the amsoil lean in my 2010 yz250 and never had any problems out of it.

amsoil dominator is what i always used. i believe 57:1 (with VP C12) was the most reliable mix i used...

but i did rebuild the topend every 11 hrs. and the bottom every 3 to 4 topend builds

Amsoil dominator and erc110k is my usual drink, mix around 40:1. rode the piss out of my bike for about 5 years. pismo wide open for days, all over never had any failures with the bike. Topend still looked good when I rebuilt it. 2 strokes love leaded fuel, a little extra lubricity aint hurt no one. especially in the upper end.

I've been running straight 110 and the maxima GP7 for a few years now, burns nice and clean at 32:1.

On my 01' 265cc EricGorr Built, 110 ported,v force, 38mm Keihn Airstryker, etc....

Actually just cleaned her up.... Here's a pic next to my roomies 2011 CRF 450.

2 of the most winning-est bikes in history, EXACTLY 10 years apart.... Thanks Honda!

I run whatever I can get the cheapest. Belray generally but sometimes Valvoline from auto zone.

Never had any trouble. And when I did the top end recently, I did not notice any excessive carbon or increased wear that my friends who insist on paying more tell me I will have.

I understand the argument that it is not that much more for peace of mind.

I guess it is an experiment of sorts.

Edit: a friend runs klotz, I think the kind with castor oil, and it smells the best for whatever that is worth.

Also ran klotz for a while and i agree it does have a wonderful scent. I pretty much ran whatever i could find for the most part and never had and noticeable issues/differences other than the smell. And btw you guys mixing at 60:1 have more ballz than i do

I bought a 168 main jet from the Honda dealer, I can only guess that the jet is smaller than the 165 that was originally in the bike (didn't check the plug because it seemed to run fine and I'm a tard.) As soon as it started making noise I shut it down and pushed it back to find that I had tons of aluminum on top of the piston that came from the crown but the cylinder is fine(whew).

Damage....melted piston and dinged up head, parts are here, I'm just waiting on my JD jet kit to get here so I can load it up with a great big jet and work my way down. Total cost....122 for new Wiseco std bore piston and used head, 75 for jet kit, pretty cheap up to what I would have had to spend with a 4t.

The JD jetting kit came with factory Keihen jets and says to start out with a 182 main jet and 45 pilot, a little different than the 48pj 165mj that come in these bikes. The only thing I can figure is that the previous owners did not ride the bike far/long enough to get the piston to self destruct from a lean condition, however me bombing down dirt roads for miles at a time was enough to make the lean jetting into a real problem.

I always had great luck with the Amsoil Dominator. 2 Banshees and a Quadzilla....never an issue. AV100LL in all of them....40:1 mix. All were ported so I went a bit richer for the higher exhaust temps

The amount of oil in the fuel doesnt make a lean or rich mixture like everyone thinks, its quite the opposite
