info on an Honda XR200...price, power, speed, ?
i am lookin at a 1984 honda xr200. its in great condition. seems to have an aftermarket head on it ( ?? ), newer tires, rims, plastic is in perfect condition. seat is good. donest use any oil. havent ridden it yet. i dont know much about them. i am 5'9" and weigh MAYBE 140lbs..... will this have enough power? enough power= cannot give full throttle and still hold on
is it a little to much for a beginers bike? all ive ever ridden with big motors are ATV's, i had a CR 125 once and it was a blast. how does this compare? whats the going price for a 84 Xr200 in good conditoin? thanks any info or pics of ppls XR's would be great.

I'm no dirt bike expert, but...
I bought one for my wife (same year I think too). Its not going to have near the same power as a CR125. It will be beginner friendly though. Decent trail bike, etc. I'd hold out for an XR250 though. Much better bike, IMHO... Test ride it and see what you think though. Oh yeah, I think we paid around $1000 for hers, but it wasn't in that great of shape, so we probably should have paid less...? (the 200 was too big & heavy for my tiny 5' tall waif, I mean wife, so we didn't have it that long) HTH, hopefully somebody w/ more experience than me will answer too... |

judging from the questions you ask, this would be a good bike for you. i personally wouldnt pay over $500 for a good one but i also know that the market for them is good and you will probably have to pay more than that. i bought an 83 for $200 that was a little ugly but very ridable. have fun

I picked up an 86 XR 200 for 500 bucks.
It's perfect for my wife she has no problems at all starting it or riding the crap out of it after an hour of riding she was comfortable enough on it to have me rid on the back. she is 5'4" tall and 120 lbs. it is plenty of power for her. Me on the other hand I'm 5'8' and 160 lbs. I can throw the bike around with ease it's a fun little bike on the trai and around the yard. The bike doesn't have enough power to scare the crap out of me at all. In one day i pretty much out grew the bike. It is still fun to ride though. I'm thining an XR 400 would be ideal for me.

I've got a 83 xr200R, I bought it for $60 and it is prety thrashed! But it runs... My friend has an 83 xr200 (dual shock model) which is in really good shape, but it's lame looking and rides like a tank!
So I took a bunch of the interchangable parts between the two bikes and fixed up my xr200 with his parts! Anyways, they are fun bikes to screw around on, and they're prety fast too considering only 200cc and a little carb. However, with that said, my XL250R will blow the hell out of either xr200 for whatever thats worth. Jeff
