Unhappy Acerbis handguard install gone bad

One of the dam aluminum C clamps that go around the bars broke in half when I went to install my handguards, the nylon ones not the Rally Pros. The instructions said to spread the clamps apart then pinch back together. Well I spread them apart a little, didn't fit so I grabbed it with my hands to spread them apart a little more and the clamp broke in half with a ping sound. Sweet god this kind of crap makes me mad. Now I have to track down another clamp. Hopefully the closest shop(one hour away, hell they're all one hour away)will have one layin around Monday. I was all pumped to finally get my new bars/handguards/lever on & go ridin because I wrecked pretty bad 2 weeks ago & now this crap happens, by by weekend. Still got the jeep though.

could they have meant to spread them and slide them on the end of the bar which would have not meant spreading them very much

Nope, there were little pictures of spreading them and slipping them around the bars then clamping them back together with pliers. People shouldn't expect to strip everything off their bars to put on a pair of handguards. If I would have been thinking I would have slipped them on before I put the new bars on but oh well.

Unhappy

Yea I know you said stay away from them but I'm selling the bike & just needed to dress it up a bit. These aren't the rally pros either, they look like them but don't have the barkbuster bar in them.

Thumbs up

Well after trips to the local bike shops & getting nowhere I called Acerbis. They're sending me a new clamp, be here in 4 or 5 days. Guy was real cool on the phone. The shops told me I would have to order another pair of handguards. Thanks Acerbis.
