Question Tires?

I'm in the market for some new tires and was wondering what you guys are riding?
I ride XC and a little downhill. Would like something around 2.1-2.3 wide.

I was thinking the Bontragers "Jones".
Don't look here

maybe these?

I ride the mutanoraptors 2.4. They seem float my fat ass over the sand fairly well and hold the packed granite trails I have been riding. But heck I don't know squat.

What the hell are these? Ya linked right back to the thread, lol

The Mythos are also on sale at performancebike.com

I think it was something like $38 for 3 tires, kevlar beaded, 2.1" thick.

WTB tires suck IMHO. They grip okay, but they're also a complete b*tch to put on. Especially on sun rims. I bought a velociraptor earlier this year for my rhyno, it seemed to do ok, and then I gave it to my friend for free with more than 50% tread left. On a recent ride, he ripped the sidewall in half.. Don't know how the hell that happened.

As for me, I've been pretty happy with Maxxis. Have a 2.7 Mobster front, 2.5 High Roller rear. Heavy mofos, but stiff sidewalls and they are grippy!

I have actually been running those mythos religiously sence they where released. They are excelent tires. my only gripe was that I use to rip the side lugs off the casing often and the side lugs lacked the stability to handle off camber stuf and hard cornering/slides. the factory xc's are very simmular in designe but with more stout wider side lugs. and the mytho 2.10's are actually more like 1.95's and the 1.95's are pizza cutters

Hey Vova,
I just got a Giant AC1 a few weeks ago, and junked the 1300g DH Michelins for a pair of Continental Vertical Protection tires. Like 'em a lot so far at 45psi, want to try them at lower and lower pressure and see what they do. They roll a LOT better than the Wildgrippers. Got www.notubes.com too, so far they're working bitchin'. Pain to seat the first time, but once they're on they're on.

Had Lasek (not Lasik) almost two months ago, and didn't get the ok to go back in the water until Thanksgiving. (That's why I had to get the bike, was going stir crazy.) Went out turkey day, it was small and still kicked my ass. Amazing how quickly paddling strength and the balls to engage disappear. I figure this sunday will be way too big for my pussy self, so I might go snowboarding instead...

You'll love those tires. I've been running wtb tires on my dually for like 6 years now. all this supergo/performance stuff is bunk though. Suport you local shop when you can. The shops keep cycling alive in my community. And any local shop can get ANYTHING you want nowadays. I dont work at a shop (although I have in the past) but they are there for me in a pinch all the time . sorry about the rant

I support the local shop when I can, but alot of them are jerkoffs. I refuse to support a bunch of assholes. Still on the hunt for a decent shop...

I understand the asshole bike shop know it all guy makes it hard sometimes. Good luck finding a good shop. If you cant deal with the local shop and have to mail order/order online I highly recomend Cambria Bicycle Outfiters. They are not your average cookie cutter bike mail order.

Trail Head bike shop in Campbell is a good place, but if I can get it for 1/2 price mail order, it's a hard choice
