might sell my dh bike
Hey guys, I have a veery sweet Dh rig that might be up for sale in a little bit, I just need to figure out a few things. Anyway, I'll list off what it's got to see if that sparks any interest. It's a 2001 Long (made for tall riders 5'10 and up) orange Balfa bb7. It's pretty much new, I finished building it up at the end of last summer so I missed the prime Dh season which means this bike hasn't really been abused at all. Frame is hand made, color is rare, frame is rare too. Frame gets 7.5 inches in the rear but travel is linear to the fork so it feels like 9 inches, frame is plusher than a M1.01 Monster T fork. Sun singlewide dh rims laced w/ 14 gauge dt black spokes to DT Onyx disc hubs. Purple Hayes w/ 8 in. rotors on front and back. Shimano Xt shifter, cassette and derailleur. Mrp World cup chainguide. Race face splined FR bb, Race Face prodigy dh cranks w/ a 44t and 38 t chainring. Race Face stainless dh headset, Thomson 90 mm stem, thomson seatpost. Easton cully, dh pedals. Easton bar, odi lockon grips, Maxxis mobster 2.7 tires. Random seat. The bike itself has about 5 grand put into it, I'd probably sell it for about $3,500 obo. Has about ten rides on it and only a scratch or two. I'm considering the sell only because I will be leaving for school next summer and will need a more practical bike for the trails at school, also a $5,000 bike would get stolen in a heartbeat. I might be swapping the fork out to a 2002 Manitu Dorado which alone is $1500. So thats the story guys, I love the bike to death, it's my dream bike but sadly I just don't know if I have the time to enjoy it as much as I would have a year ago. If anyone wants more info, or a pic e-mailed to them lemme know. I'm only considering a sale right now, I'm not set on it yet, but it will probably happen.

Sweet Ride!
You may want to list it on ebay, a friend/co-worker has been getting some really high $ for the bikes she's been selling there. Worth a shot.

Bay area wheeler, I'll send a pic but i think it needs to be resized and I'm a tard onm computers, so if you could do it when u get it if possible that'd be kosher, if not then it'll just hafta remain big.

The apparent claim is that since the rear of the frame is cromo, it is plenty beefy and actually more structually cool than aluminum. Making the rear out of cromo also apparently eliminates the need to use huge diameter tubing which would limit tire size. Speaking of tire size, I run a 2.7 right now, but I have fit a 3.0 Gazz with plenty of room to spare
. The only real quirky thing is the odd chainline, it runs through a upper pulley (basically a 11t cog), this supposedly eliminates pedal feedback and in many ways its true and works beautifully but since its going through so many cogs it does make a little chatter in some gears. I've been told that the chainline just needs to be adjusted a little better, I haven't taken the time to figure that out yet because one of the reps told me that there is no real functional benefit other than a slightly quiter ride.-Ian

Well, I'd obviously love to not sell it, just turns out that thats my only bike at the moment and it wouldn't be practical at all for going away to school. So yeah, I gotta unfortunately get it off my hands. Hell I haven't even had time to ride it within the past month. The only way that I'd keep it is if I could buy a xc bike, but then again the whole need for college money prevents that which is really a bitch. Oh well, there'll be plenty of time when I get out of school to build up another Balfa which I probably will do since the ride on these is amazing. But yea, if anyones interested, make an offer an someone might just be the happy owner of this rig.

www.pinkbike.com www.hcore.net they're both free and cater to the downhill/freeride crowd. From my experience looking through the ads your price is high though. That's something you'll just have to feel out.
