I stole this trick from my buddy Jeff.
Take an old short sleeve T-shirt. Cut the sleeve off. Wear the sleeve on your head, like a "super wide" head band. Pull it down to your eyes, then fold it back over itself just above where your glasses hit your forehead. It gets a little hot in the summer, but I'll take that over sweat in my eyes at the worst possible time bombing down a single track...We use the whole sleeve, but you might try experimenting with different width "slices" of sleeve.. I found that using the entire sleeve allows the portion on top of your head to hold the sleve from slipping down over your eyes (also bad on a downhill ). It works best with a helmet for two reasons: it holds it on better and it hides it so you won't look like a dork - because we know its all about the look ...

I started wearing those bike hats for that. It fits under the helmet and helps shade the back of the neck a little. They fit better under those leather POS helmets. Those looked cool, but didn't do shit for protecting your nugget

Get a pair of crockies head bads for your sun glasses and sew the ends together. Its geat for keeping sweat out of your eyes. When you get a little sweat dripping down just push the head band and it will drain. I have found this to work the best. Sweat band look gay and they don't work!

here are my hints...
-get a pair of spy scoops. They ventilate a ton better than oakleys, or just don't wear sunglasses -get a helmet with more vents -situate your helmet pads across your forehead better so they soak up sweat better -take off your helmet on climbs -try that t-shirt thig, or the bandana thing -take breaks every now and then best hint... ride faster, more speed down those hills makes the sweat cool down and dry up. Besides you have more fun and make better dents in yourself when you crash. |
