Season's changin

It's raining outside, the road bike is securely attached to the trainer where it will probably stay 'til spring and the riding clothes don't dry nearly fast enough. If it wasn't for snowboarding I'd really hate winter.

I'm all for riding the MTB in the weather...sometimes. But I guess we don't have to deal with 38 deg. I just aviod wet roads. Too many idiot drivers, too much road grime, too much wear on the road bike. So, the wife and roommate have to deal with the RRRRRRRRRRrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRrrrrRRRRR R of the trainer 'til spring.

Can't wait for spring and mildewless gear.

I'd be all for riding in the winter if I had someone to ride with! But even here in Wa, not everybody likes to ride in the rain!
I had to settle for 4 wheeling this weekend up in the snow! It was awesome until Krash broke his hand!

Personally the fall/winter are the best riding seasons around. Dirt gets super tacky when its moist, super slippery when soaked. Can't get better than that. Trailbuilding is easier in the cold and you don't break your back with dry dirt. You don't overheat in the sun. No one is out on the trails. And the scenery goes from burnt ass brown to a lush green. I can only say good things about this time of the year. Cold morning road rides are great too, its just beautiful riding in the silence of a long windy backroad lookin at the seasons change.

I love dirt like velcro. Soaked is a no no around here, though. With the Mid-penninsula horse nazi's we have to be very careful about riding in too much rain. I know most people are blissfully unconcerned, but I remember times when Purisma and El Corte were fair game to us on the bikes. Before the MROSD gustapo bulldozed and outlawed some of the best riding in these areas. I can't wait to move to Santa Cruz where the open space authority will work with riders.

Okay, I got it all out I feel better now. Ride hard, tread lightly.
