well, in my cousins ranger(a 600/600BBF), he runs a stock used c-6 with a simple shift kit, and 3K stall... Been taking home hardware for the last 5 years with it..
C-6's unlike chevy trannys, don't take much to hold up to mild(600hp range) big blocks...

my buddies truck lived for several years with a mildish big block and C6, pretty sure all it had was a reverse valve body, low gear set and a 3500 ish stall. nothing incredibly exotic.
It finally gave up on him after he let some cheby boy talk to much trash to him and he nuetral dropped it while on the rev limiter at a bog. |

A C6 will hold decent power in stock form but not 500-600hp and be reliable. A lot depends on what you want to spend. You can go for a basic rebuild and upgrade to race frictions, beefier servo and a good shift kit which will hold up decent. A lot of the 4R100 parts will fit, like drums, planetaries, and roller washers. You can get drums machined for extra clutches or billet if needed. You can drop a lot of cash pretty easily on a trans just like you would an engine.

local shop says he can put kevlar clutches, rebuild my valve body with a shift kit and converted to manual and a upgraded servo for $600 without a coverter, seem fair and a good build?

thats not too far off. I build full roller c6's and they are a bit more cash. lol but with some better clutches and the wider band they'll take a beatin for a while.
