mid camping adventure
![]() ![]() had a little "incident" after 13 hours in the same hole trying to extract a fucking dumb motherfucker who i work with in a CJ7 w/ 35 boggers on stock axles with welded spiders front and rear.... ![]() broken shit award: drag link bent like a U, no steering available now. left front steering ujoint, inner and outer shaft ears ripped off right front steering ujoint, inner and shaft ears ripped off, outer ears stretched. right side steering knuckle ripped off, via upper balljoint going to better place cause the ujoint was stuffing its way up its ass. right side brake line ripped off, thus no breaks rear driveshaft twizzle sticked off that was the jeep. me: rear ubolts stretched allowing 9inch to rotate, ripping off ear on the yoke other jeep helping me: right side steering ujoint breaks, seperating balljoints but we're able to press them back in after flipping the stubshaft backwards to hold the unit bearing together (dana 30) so CJ on my bumper, im acting like a tow truck, i only have front axle to pull (open diff) a CJ7 with the front axle dragging the ground, and the other jeep in front of me pulling in 3wd cause his stub shaft was broken. it sucked balls.

BTW i have a pretty good set of pictures in my build thread on how to keep the engine bay clean with sheilds.
the airflow thru the radiator became an issue, since both inner fenders are completely sealed, and there is a mud shield from the front core support to the transfercase. i ended up cutting holes in the cowl and using the vents under the windsheild to vent engine heat. no overheating issues now! also there is a mud sheild that will bolt to the core support and flop over the grill, bolts to the hood. its when i drive it back and forth from the house to mud drag the truck in competition. i cant drive it around too much obviously cause of NO airflow, but it works incredibly well keeping the radiator clean, and the amount of mud going thru the radiator onto the engine. this is the key: buy a hudson sprayer (those pesticide sprayers w/ the pump on it) @ walmart or something for 10 bucks or less. go fill it with diesel. spray the ENTIRE TRUCK down with diesel.... frame, axles, body, EVERYTHING. the mud will literally slide off, and when you pressure wash it @ the quarter car wash it will almost cut your time in half. trust me on this!

Here's another from an outing that was the end of my "mud for fun" outlook. 2 days to clean up, lost ANOTHER motor, and a lot of electrical gremlins showed up.

I honestly didn't think I'd see anything in this thread that impressed me, or was worse than mine. You sir, have proved me wrong. Good work!

After the first time I took it to the lake. Coming from a CJ7 and a s10 blazer it was smooth, has a nice stereo, and the "big V8" had plenty of power.
check the windsheild Bet you wish your 1/2ton had cab lights
