44 tsl question

hey everyone i was just wondering if there any reason why i shouldnt put some 44 tsl's on my 14" wide rims. interco suggest 12" wide but my last tires were 39.5 on some 14 and never ran into problems there besides 30 extra lbs in each rim during mudd runs. thanx 4 input

I ran my 38.5X15's on 15" wide rims & I've seen 42's on 18" wide rims. 20" seems to be the width of choice for 44" Boggers.

Seen it before a zillion times. Just like you can put a 39.5x15x15 bogger on a 15x7 rim and it works too.

one of the reasons they suggest a 12in is so the tires curves in and seals the bead to the rim putting pressure on the bead theres no problem running the rim if your just doin mud justwatch out how much you air downn to.

wider the rim the more its going to push out the sidewalls and not allow the sidelugs to bite as much... i run 15x10s with 38.5/15 boggers... its perfect

Width of choice.... where? No where I have ever been. There would hardly be any tire to protect the rim lip with the rim wider than the tire! I would like to see a picture of this too.

I am sure its been done... but certainly not the width of choice. I would say 14" would be closer to the width of choice around here.

They'd all be bead-locked, so you're not worried about the rim lip.

OK, we are talking about full our mud drag racers.... I guess I could see that. There isnt a worry about the rim lips like with any kind of trail rig.

it will be doing a little timed mud bogging but mostly trail riding (no rocks). and im not too worried about the side lugs anyways the only time i need them is over 2' of slop and im sure they do there part. no bead locks were im at were im at ive never ever seen real bead locks besides drag cars/trucks.o well im ordering them tommorow if someone could explain how to post pictures id show it off. the only reason i started this post is my last set up (39.5) were on 15" wide rims and the sidewalls started cracking.

the cracking is in there from the factory.... if your talking about the slices in the bead that looks like a razor blade slipped around the bead in a few spots.

only time I haven't seen that is with the new 44's for 16" diameter rims. The rim size they post on their site is typicaly the minimum they recomend

(RPM x tire dia.) / (total gear ratio x 336) = MPH

I just run through the ratios till i find less that 2% overdrive in the front. then you can have custom gears cut for the transfer or run different sprockets on a chain drive to get the correct total gear ratio to the front.

Mark Williams website has some real nice gearing calculators to help with that also.
