For laughs, pull the shifter boot (4 simple phillips screws) and then the trans/transfer shifter (6 12mm bolts) and see if the detent spring for the trans shifter hasn't fallen out and got jambed up.
Do you have a body lift ? That could effect if the shifter is hitting the console or the rubber boot has too much tension. If neither one Id say it's your spring, marlins crawler makes stronger replacement springs with a higher rating to help prevent this problem.
also, worn out shift rails can cause this issue as well
