15 vs 17

what are the the plus and minus's for a 15in rim and a 17in, i see more and more people run 17s now

Pros to 17" wheels/tires:

17" is pretty much the standard now so you will see more tire sizes available.

Most people will claim they have less sidewall flex than a 15" tire which is better for stablility.

Easier to fit over brakes but not that big of a deal to most as you can just grind calipers to fit 15" wheels.

17" Cons:

About the only thing i can think of is they will cost more.

17" tires tend to have higher "D" or "E" load ratings, which makes for stiffer sidewalls that don't conform to the terrain as well when aired down.

As said though, 17s are fast becoming the new 15s, particularly for 37" sizes and above, which it's obvious the tire industry has found to be the most profitable.
