The 4.3 in my s10 has about 130k on it. I've been looking into replacing the the poppet style spider setup with the newer electronic conversion. Only problem is I don't have $200 to spend on the kit. From what I've read, chevy doesn't really offer a conversion kit. It's just a spider from an '02+ 4.3. Can anyone confirm this for me? Would I be able to just pull a spider and plate from pick n pull and clean it up? Would I need anything else other than gaskets?
you need the mounting bracket as well. a junkyard one should work, just make sure you know what it looks like. you should be able to reuse your gaskets as well. they are just poly-plastic of some sort and pretty resistant.
given that you have a vehicle with that motor stock, a dealer should fix it for free as a TSB.
Thanks! Only difference I can see is the injector nozzle being recessed into a plastic pintle cap and has thinner tubes. Any other things to look for?
