Dana 70 Power-loc in a 60?
Will the power loc from my rear 70 fit in my front 60?
Something tells me no. Thought I would ask anyway. If yes any reasons not to? Open right now, can't do locker yet. |

No. The D60 and D70 use different diameter ring gears, pretty much everything but the diff cover on the D70 is much larger.

Yes, you can. It is a bit of work though. I have yet to do it personally, but look forward to doing it for a customer someday.

Yes, you can make one fit, but that's not exactly the same as just swapping one into a D60 like the OP was asking.

Thought of it at work today while driving around.
I think the spline count would be different on the axles any way. I thought the gear sizes were different wasn't sure about the carrier. Last edited by Country69; 08-17-2012 at 05:08 PM. |

if you were looking to buy one that would fit new its one thing, then you have a choice to compair and pick the right one. the odds that you have the right one that is going to work in your setup are slim.

fwiw.
if i remember right the ring gear for the d60/70 use the same bolt pattern but the power lock carrier has a larger od register for the id of the gear, a few min on a lathe can solve that issue.

Toyin with the idea since I have one laying around. Just occurred to me that is on the wrong side of the gear split for my 4.88s.
If I don't use it I have a bunch of extra parts to stick in classified. I'm such a friggin pack-rat breaks my heart to get rid of stuff. Got boxes of extra parts from the jeep too. |
