The grinding thing almost sounds more like d line vibration to me, your ujoints cool? pinion angle correct? shake the rear wheel and see if it clunks pops or feels loose, wheel bearing???
Get under truck and get busy! LOL

i checked the u joints and they are both fine, as for the wheel bearing do think that it needs replacement, but would that account for high speed noises? how do you check if the pinon angle is too much

jack the rear of the truck off the ground block the front and put it in nutral and roll a rear tire forward and backward to try and hear the noise. sounds like a u joint to me. is the truck stock height or how much lifted ?

Yea it does matter if its lifted. Thats why he asked. Your problem is your splines on your slip yoke on the rear driveline are worn out. No stress until it was lifted. A quick fix if not to worn out is to fill it up with grease and keep jammed full of greese.

get under it with the wheels blocked and in neutral grab your rear driveline and jerk it hard and see what moves and doesnt twist...sounds like a pinion bearing but i cant hear it from here!
