Power splitting?

I have heard of people who put big motors where they aren't intended, and then break the axle on the road where traction is too good. My question is, if the vehicle was in 4wd, would the power be split between the two axles, and they would both survive, or would they both be broken.

Its all a matter of horsepower, but yes a 4wd, locked both ends will transfer equal torque to each tire if each tire has 100% traction( zero slippage)

And yes with enough power anything can be broken!
I am normally only a danger to myself don't make me include you!!
