Dip Stick

I have a 78 CJ5 258 I dont think my iol dipstick is the right one. I was wondering if anyone could measure the flat part that measures the oil and let me know. Its all stock... thanks

Just change your oil. Fill it up and see where it reads. If it's not at full then you have the wrong one.

Are you stupid? If you change the oil, it will be at the right level. Therefore, if the stic doesnt read full, you will know its the WORNG stick. Be happy this is a flame free zone

Make sure you want these answers before you ask...

Buddha's Ghost is dead on here. if you dont know for sure its the easiest no tech way of checking... many many engines have several different dipsticks and it would not be easy for you to ask what the lenght is and still get the wrong info....since I can think of three dipsticks for a 258. You oil volume would be the same for each engine but the static level in the different pans will be not so bugger off,,,, if you think people here are giving you bad tech.
