Tacoma seat interchangeability?
So I'm picking up a used 2wd Taco as my DD and noticed the split bench seat is a bit worn. So what are my options....
1. Replace the split bench with Taco buckets + a console? 2. Replace with some other Toy buckets which are a bolt-in? Any help is appreciated.....and if anyone has a gray split bench or a pair of buckets you're tripping over and you want to get rid of them, let me know. Thanks... Brian |

I have a 96 taco 4x4 Ex-cab, the seats suck in it. I drove to NYC and LA this year and almost messed my back up because it has no support and are uncomfortable on a long drive. If anyone knows if there is a direct bolt in, I am sure both of us would appreciate knowing. I suppose i could try Tacoma territory. But this is the site I live on.

I like my 96 spilt bench for the most part. No plans to change cuz I know I won't keep it more than a couple years.
I doubt any better seats are bolt in, but use your rails/mounts and adapt them to whatever seat you find you like. Just makes you stockers a little harde to sell though.

Must be my dam back, but then again i put 60,000 miles on that thing last year driving for work. That could be it also, i suppose i shouldn't complain about the seat if i only hurt after driving 21 hrs straight. Any other type of vehicle i would have been in the hospital for back realignment instead of just hurting. My bad, toyotas, can't go wrong with them. Oh yeah i had my head gaskets replaced on that V-6 by the defective warranty they sent out. Real nice, plus got the mechanic to just throw a new timing belt on.

hmm, used to DD a 98 4 runner limited.. seats were DAMN comfy.. the seats in my 85 are cofy too.. drove and slept in the truck, int he same seat for about 15 hours.. no complaints.. till i was wheeling it for awhile.. Looking at the 2 seats side by side (in each 4 runner of course), the mounts look almost identical... and would put $5 on it that the 98 seats woudl bolt into my 85.. Also, in my 85 i noticed there are multiple mounting holes.. Now it has a bench seat (freebie.. thanks crawlr.. ) that is MUCH more comfterable, mainly because it isnt rouined from having the window town too many times in the rain.
I would put money on it that a pair of buckets out of another tacoma, 4 runer, or probabally a toyota car would bolt right in. Garrett |
