New Member to this forum. I need help narrowing a search. What I'm looking for is difficult to find. I'm a street rodder at heart and I don't mind scrounging, I couldn't be called a "blister package mechanic". I'm hot rodding my '51 Chevy 1 1/2 ton. The old girl has been a good truck but now I have visions of a suicide front, 396/ Muncie M-21, and a later model rear. I've been looking for a Dana 80 10 lug with drum brakes to keep the old rims. The only help I've gotten so far is that rear came on old Dodge motorhome chassis's and P-30 Frito box trucks. Has any seen or heard another vehichle it might be used on. My 2 speed Eaton on the '51 is a 6:10 hi and 8:10 low, I need something else. Thanks in advance.

Army Cav Scout, Ft. Campbell KY....bought a house after last deployment....happened to be across the street from a fella with an old 4runner addiction. currently parting my race-prepped volkswagen (scca/solo2) to help pay for the build of an 86 (IFS :frown: ) runner which said neighbor had a huge influence in turning me towards.....
new to offroad toys and their fun. trying to avoid scratching the itch i feel when i look at threads of rock crawlers, exos and bobbers... it's not alot to look at right now, but i've already got a list and a bunch of stuff waiting to be installed. not bad for an AZ truck and i even found a few pesos under the carpet. ![]() ![]() ![]() first toyota ever, had it a little over a week and am eager to see where i can take it. ed |

This newbie just bought a 4runner
Yesterday i bought a 1985 4runner lifted with 6.5" all pro leafs, 3" shackles in the front and 8" shackles in the rear on 35" mtrs. Its got 5.29s front and rear and an arb rear locker, 200,000 on whole truck engine included. I paid 2,000 plus the 500 in back fees and the title is coming in the mail truck is in my name. Passed smog runs like a dream all i need is body armor, arb front locker, a dual case adapter and another case and my runner is runnnin good man, maybe an exo cage at least an internal one but i want to go exo and im golden. I love this truck for an 85 its pretty clean and tight ill post pics and a build thread soon. Much to learn but god i love this shit, if it wasn't for me beating the shit out of my tacoma at the local ohv i never would have stepped up to something better. Its time for this newbie to learn some shit maybe help your ass when your broken down on some trail needing help. Thats one of the reasons i fell in love with the whole 4wheeling rock crawlin sport is that at the local ohv i only got stuck once but ive been there with buddies that got stuck real quick and never waited long to be pulled out by a bigger rig. Off road is off road and a bigger man will pull over to help pull you out, you just want to be the bigger man don't you. I do. So id rather buld it better how bout you man.

New Guy in Southern Indiana
Hello all.
I love enjoying where my Jeep can take me. I am into trail riding. I have wheeled at Tellico (before it closed of course) and in Florida (Eglin Bomb Range and other sand/clay trails). Starting to get into expedition type wheeling but really love my Jeep TJ. I started with a 1979 Jeep CJ without a Top or Doors which was my daily driver for over a year so all my other Jeeps since then have been a step up in comfort to say the least. Looking to hit some trails, do some camping, learn something and enjoying the aspects of what owning a Jeep means. |

Just because we were registered yesterday doesn't mean we're a "newbie" to the 4x4 world.

Hey Everyone,
Have heard about the site but spend too much time in front of the computer as it is, so it took a while to join. Well... Once I read that thread from the chick that was booted from our local site and saw how much awesome there was, I had to sign up. Name is Russ. I live in BC, Canada and have a Jeep. Guess because I'm new I wasn't able to get any pictures up, but my sig should have a link to my youtube page if anyone wants to see the heep. Can post up details of my rig if anyone's interested. Nothing super-crazy but it gets down the trail. Only been wheelin' for about two years but have learned lots in that time. Look forward to another site full of crazy-ass wheelin folk. Cheers, Russ

Guess I've never checked in. I've lurked around for a while. Asked some dumb questions and have been an all around newb. Mainly deal with Toyotas and might be getting a 2000 blazer on the cheap.
I'm from WA state also. |

Hello all, im a newb to the 4x4 world checking in here hoping to learn some things. Im a southern KY boy born and raised and im very much, as you might tell by my name, into backwoods hiking, camping, and firearms of all kinds.
Newer owner of a '02 Dak and im looking for some advice on just what upgrades it needs and links to some good gear. I hope to find a good home here, its the only 4x4 forum ive been to. |
