700R4 to Atlas II 3.8
yeah yeah yeah... mah name dont say newbie.. big deal..
newaz.. i cant find exactly what im looking for w/o blundering through 50 million worhtless threads.. so... a few questions.. building a cj with FI4.3 / 700R4 / Atlas II 3.8 #1 Do i need an adapter to go from the r4 to the atlas? if so which one? and best place to get it? #2 Manaul Valve body- Reverse or Forward pattern?? Was told by tranny shop i would want forward so i would have engine braking... correct? #3 What shifter for the r4? #4 Axles will be 14bolt rear, 60 front-- what gears would you suggest for 37-40"ers? 4.56? 4.88? or steeper? For all ya fawkers who sit around and say "search" 'you..

1: Believe it bolts right up to a 4x4 r4 not sure though, ask who ever you are ordering it from.
2: Reverse or forward manual valve body doesnt effect if it will have breaking or not, its just the order that 1st through OD come in after N. I would find a new tranny shop that knows how to deal with performance mods these guys sound like jerk offs. 3: I would go Lokar or chetah shifter 4: If you plan on driving on the street I would go with 5.14 (the lowest I belive a 14 bolt can go) to cruise at around 2300 RPM at 65
