Need AMC bellhousing help
I posted this on the Binder, but since it is a mix of parts, I didnt get an answer..
I have a 1971 AMC 258, it is not the same as the 1972 and up 258 pattern . The starter is in the wrong position. Can someone tell me if this is the same pattern as the early 70's bolt pattern that scout i/h used in the AMC 232. It sure looks like it, but before I buy a bellhousing I want to be fairly sure. I am going to bolt it into a 1980 CJ5, with a 3 speed. Do I use the jeep tranny and clutch or the scout tranny parts. I have some old scout 3 speed & tcase combos and Jeep ones also, just trying to figure what is gonna be scout and what is gonna be jeep. If this will work I can get a nice cj running for around 50.00 if that is the same bellhousing. |

OK,,,been googling.....Anybody got a 65 thru 71 Jeep truck or waggy with a 232 in it. Tell me if the starter is drivers side above the dowel pin. That might be the ticket.
