Changing Bolt Patterns: Front D44
Getting ready to swap my XJ Dana 30 and Corp 8 1/4 out for a set of Dana 44's. Rear is off an 87 XJ and is a 5 on 4 1/2. Front is off an 86 or 87 Waggy and is 6 on 5 1/2. I want to keep my 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern so what's the best way to do this? One suggestion was to use my Dana 30 knuckles on the front. Any other options out there?

Why would you want 30 outers on a 44? That defeats the purpose of installing a larger axle. I think that there are some 44's that came with that pattern. 70's Dodge? I'm not sure the years, but it has been done. I think that the new rubis have that bolt pattern and run the D30 outers, but I've also heard that that is the weak link in the axle. So your on your own. Maybe go with a set of adapters in the rear to six lug, and change rims.

machine shop
for about $60 you can get new holes drilled in your rotors and hubs,,,, I have done lots of chebby 6 lug to 5 on 5 1/2 thrue the years. Just dont go to the big shops they well try and violate your wallet. The other trick it don`t tell them you need it done right then or even in a day or two ,,, give them a week and you can save some $$. I just love the ass wipes that walk in and say I need this done NOW. Had one a few weeks ago that wanted a boat shaft turned right then,,, not the next day but right then ,,,, so well I was doing it I asked him how he screwed up the old one..... he looked and me and sead what old one this is for a boat I`m going to START building in a month or two. Lets just say he got vialated big time.
