Jeep - 6 cyl or 8 cyl
I'm thinkin' about pickin' up a jeep, and I've seen a lot of jeeps with the 6 and 8. Any opinions/pros/cons on these two motors, how they hold up, power, reccomendations, etc
Thanks! - DW |

The Jeep 4.2(258) is a good bullet proof motor with pretty decent power, however if your into power then the AMC v-8 motors are a better choice. The are all pretty decent motors, but if your going offroad you might as well have the v-8.

Figure out what Jeep you want (CJ,YJ,TJ or Whatever) and get the biggest available motor. That said I currently have a V8 CJ7, and a 4.0L TJ and they are both great motors.

Guess you could look at it this way...if you roll an inline 6 cyl Jeep on the driver's side, you get oil in the cylinders. Passenger side, no oil in the cylinders. Roll a V8, doesn't matter which side, you get oil in some cylinders!
