What is the finish on DOM tube?

What type of crap comes on DOM tube?

When you guys are painting it are you just taking it down to bare metal and then priming/painting?

I've just been using a flap wheel on my grinder to remove the finish but I want to know what others are doing. Is there an easier way? I doubt paint would hold well to what ever the finish is. Oh well...

Thanks,

Mike

It depends on the mill, some just ink the size on it, some use a corrosive resistant dip. Just scuff it up and paint should hold fine. If your using a light color paint the ink will bleed through. Acetone and a scotch-bright will take the ink off.

The DOM Fata$$ Toyota bought has a greasy film on it. I just wipe it down with denatured alcohol before painting it.
