Front ford 9"/44 Hybrid

Anyone seen a good write-up on a ford 9"/44 hybrid? I've found a variety of mog9 and 44/30 pages but nothing as specific as what I'm looking for. I'm not to experienced with front axles so I figure I can get some experience building this hybrid for my CJ.

seriously why bother? the weak point of the dana 44 is the axle shafts and U-joints so building a hybrid would just cost money and time. A worth while hybrid would be a 9"/60 or 9"/mog like you mentioned.

Unless you plan on running a HP9", bu then why not just find a HP D44? I see no real benefit in going a D44/9" route. Go with a 9" center section with 31 spline shafts and D60 outers, IMO.

going 9 because I'm going to run a 9" rear.. just wanna keep it similar. The clearance weight and strength of the 9 is what has sold me. a 9 with 1/2 ton knuckles seems reasonanable under my 3000 lb CJ. The 60 ends are friggin huge, I'm all for a beefy setup but 60 ends almost teater on overkill. "almost"
The mog9 is awsome, If I had the money I'd probobly go that route.
might still go with a 69 or the mog9

Hp 44 dude. Way more work than its worth just to have the same front/rear axles. The rc 44 would be just as strong for your app anyway. But if you reeeally want to do this, just do it like you would do a 60/9, but maybe use some of thems new 33 spline 44 axles?

sounds like your willing to put down alot of time/money just to run the same differential front and rear. There really isnt to much of a valid reason to run a 9" with dana 44 outers unless you have a dana 44 laying around with busted housing and can do the work yourself.

PS: unless its an all out rock buggy I highly doupt your CJ is 3000lbs, most trail ready jeeps way in closer to 4k... and if yours is that custom your probably getting it hard enough to need the dana 60 knuckles and 35 spline front shafts.
