Whats the biggest tire you run on stock f-150

I've got a 99 F-150 4x4 thats completely stock, its starting to need new tires and I got a tip that stock H2 BFG AT's would fit it. Since its pretty easy here to get a set of "take offs" from the dealers here I was just wondering if any body on here was running them or maybe an equivalent size. The stock H2's are 315/70R17. I've already measured them and they will fit definitely as long as I stay on flat ground, I was just wondering if anybody here could tell me how much, if at all they rub. Thanks in advance.

I am running 285-75x16 Cooper STTs on my '99 right now without any problems. I am sure you would have to do some fender trimming (Front plastic piece on front bumper) to clear 315s.

I think you could get away with 35s and a 3" body lift. But if you want the fenders filled up a lil, and better off road capabilty maybe throw on some 33s, these may need just minor trimming of the plastic on the front fender. My 285s don't rub at all, and I've had the pickup up on rocks, thru lots of mud and snow.

H2s definately come with 35s.

If you wanted a lil more clearance in the front of your '99 you could always crank the torsion bars, not that I am reccomending it.

315/70R17 = 31.5 CM wide, 22.05CM sidewall height(70 is the sidewall height in percentage of the width), Radial tire, 17" rim, so, 12.4" wide, 8.68" tall sidewall. 8.68x2+17= 34.36" height.

The tire shop is full of shit.
The factory 265/70-17 converts to a 31.6x10.4, and if your 86' barely cleared 31's, the springs were shot. most fit 33x12.50's just fine stock.

As for the new trucks, I tried to put my 34x9.50 swampers under my dads 00' F-150, the tires physicaly would have fit fine.(but the rims were wrong, obviously)

As for the hummer tires, I bet it would be tight, they are basicly a 35x12.50. Crank the torsion bars and they might fit.

if you crank the torsion bars they will fit and with no rub on the street i know of two guys that did this on a 2000 and a 2002 supercrew and 315's fit.

since no one else is saying it, I will....

WHY THE FAWK DO YOU WANT A TIRE THAT BIG IF YOU CAN ONLY STAY ON FLAT GROUND? the point of bigger tires and lifts and lockers and what not are for better performance OFF ROAD. I dunno about you but I don;t know many places off road that are flat.

in other words, leave your mall crawler alone and build something you are actually gonna play with. either that or build something that will stay on "flat ground"...a ricer
