How tough is it to rebuild a Chevy tilt column?

I was an idiot and fawked the tilt joint in the column, so it has plenty of play in it now.

There are three screws that retain the tilt part of the column. I had the same problem and researched the topic here on PBB. In that thread there was a link to a nice DIY page on the GM column someone had authored. If I knew the search strings, I would point you to the threads, but I cannot remember them now, sorry. I know it exists, so I'd suggest plugging away at it. There is also a tool that is available at Checker, Pep Boys, etc, that compresses the spring allowing for assembly.

I made a spring compressor out of an old sway bar clamp. you need to puch a plate down against the spring to install a c clip.

There a PITA, but doable.
I was lucky and grabed 2 columns, 1 for reference, and one to fix the wheel lock.
