What auto tranny behind a 4cyl YJ?

I'm getting conflicting info... what auto tranny was offered behind a 4cyl YJ? Am I wrong thinking it's a TF999? If indeed it is, would a Dana 300 bolt up to it?

904 behind the 4cyl. 999 will work also. Both have 23 spline outputs and will take a D300 no problem.

This is a completely retarded question... but are the bellhousings on the 999 and 904 the same? So I could technically grab a 999 off an older CJ and bolt everything to my 2.5L without any adapters?

Thanks for the reply slut.

The bell housing is diffrent on the 4 cylinder trannys.
you can not use one off a 4.0 or other 6 cylinder model.

I just pulled mine while swaping in a 4.0 and new transmission.
but the posted spline is correct. 23 spline on all autos.

Your tranny should be a 30RH

Sorry guys... just to confirm again...

The Dana300 will be a direct bolt up to a TF904 right? How could I get the 999 to work?
