Running a shackle on one end of a trac bar

Does it still work well enough to run a shackle on the frame end of a trac bar to prevent axle wrap on a full size? It seems it would just want to push or pull the shackle as the axle rotates...or am I wrong?
Thanks
Greg

It shouldnt push or pull too much if you have a double trac bar setup (sams style). One will be pushing while the other is pulling. The solid mount of the spring also helps fight this.

do you have a pic of sams style? I'm not sure I see what you mean by a double.
Thanks!

Im guessing youre talking about a traction bar , not a trac bar.

Here is the sams heavy duty traction bar. The way it is mounted , with 2 attachment points at the axle and the shackle set vertical at ride height , the axle cant pull or push the shackle forward or back... it can only try to compress or stretch the shackle , which it wont do.

ok cool, thanks! That's how I was going to build it, just trying to figure the logic...so the shackle in the front mount allows the flex for the axle movement as the shackle on the leafs pivot with rotation...I got it. Sweet! Thanks guys.

would 1.5"x .120 wall DOM be suffcient? It's going in a blazer- 4" blocks, 350 sbc, locked, 35's. I think 1.75x.120 would be better, it's got to be pretty long, so it will be gusseted the whole way. /\/\/\/ What do you think? The guy wants it cheap as possible, and I've got some 1.5x.120 and 1.75x.120 DOM here already...otherwise, I have to order some thicker junk for $7-8 a foot. But I don't want to do it twice....

You could get away with going all big like that but I liked to go smaller. I did mine out of 1" .25 wall. Nice, small and out of the way. Plus I just drilled out the end and tapped it for a 5/8" heim.

cheap is fine...mine was also 1" .25 wall, and tapped....

just make sure it's a full V design, a Y design will bend (been there, done that, have the busted pinion to show for it...)
