I don't think a stock 10 bolt is going to last very long with that setup. Open is going to be alot better....
A guy in my club with a Blazer tried running a Dana 44 (pretty much the same as the 10 bolt) behind a big block and 38's.

I've got an auburn in the 10b on the wifes burb (60 still layinging in the floor after 3 years) on 35's been thumped on pretty good but it will make you quessy. on Yeller years ago I couldn't keep parts in my detroited 44 I broke every thing several times and spent a$$ loads of money on it before I bought the 60 (4 month transision before the rockwells). and that was with 35's and I was always easy on the throttle knowing what was fixin to happen.

I run an open 44 with 35's and have yet to break a thing in 6 months of weekly use, but i'm not running what you'd call a power house of a motor. I'm running about a 50:1 lowrange and have completely unloaded the nose cresting a hill at full throttle in low/low. With a locker of some sort you'll probably be breaking stuff, but open, you'll get enough life out of it to make it worth it. When the shafts blow just go aftermarket alloys and it'll last ALOT longer.

You will be fine depending on the engine. If you are easy on the go pedal I think you will be OK. I ran a 10 bolt for about 7 years. I am not so easy on the go pedal. I busted it a few times, but nothing too major. Buy some moly shafts and CTM's if you break it. If you had a 60 you could hold it to the floor.
If we can help let us know. Thanks Dan

I think that I may be getting the leftovers of an F250 Snowfighter with a 400 (bottom end noise) T18 205 combo minus the 60s. I figured bob the bed, slap a 14 and 10 bolt and my pass drop Divorced 205 under it using the ford 205 as a doubler/pto, weld the rear, run Hummer 36s and chains on the rear, and leave the front open. (and swap in some decent main and rod bearings as it may be salvageable) Use it as a trail making and maint rig. Or so my scatterbrain thinks. Is this foolish? Ive been known to be.

I saw a toyota truck this weekend at Grey Rock with 42" TSLs and a 10 bolt with stock shafts and he was heavy on the right foot and he didn't break. I was waiting for it to though.
I've run 37s and a spool with 5.13s in my d44 for over a year with no breakage. I am not throttle happy with the wheels turned all the way though.
