4wd question

Hypothetical situation, If two different ratios are run in axles, how long, if any, could the truck be run in 4wd before any real damage?

Actually depends on a number of things. The main one being the surface. If you are on a high traction surface, . If you are on a loose surface where the tires can scrub, you might be ok. The difference in ratios makes a big difference as well. There are some mud boggers that actually run a higher ratio (numerically lower) on the front so that the front end pulls them more helping with directional control.

I think your 10 bolt wouldnt last. It would be trying to pull the rig along which would be a bad idea. I wouldnt push it, I know one person that ran 3.73 in the rear and 4.10's in the front for awhile. He ended up blowing up a rear AMC 20 shaft and the thing didnt have much traction in any situation because the rear tires were constantly in a state of broken traction.
