Toy tacoma

I am looking at a 98 toy tocoma with 157k on the origional 4 banger. What are the specs for this motor. Everything seems flawless on the truck and they are asking 9.8k for it. it is 4x4 xtra cab loaded.....

Am I looking at a good deal?

Spec on the motor would be greatly sppriciated.

PS. this is my first time looking at toys and I need to know what I am looking for.

TRD? It would be nice if it was the TRD model since it has the elocker. Other than that, the motor is a reliable one (like most toyota motors) and should be decent. Wish I had one in my truck.

Seems a bit (alot) high for the number of miles. My buddy paid 10k for his with 50k onit (a 98 with a 3.4l 4wd).

Spec on the motor, its a 2.7l 4cyl. edmunds.com has the hp/torque #'s.

That price is waaay high, I'd be looking to get about that much for my clean 1996 4Runner with a supercharged 3.4L, 33's, ARB, stereo etc with the exact same mileage. But to answer your questions, the 4-cyl (2.7L 3RZ) motor is pretty sweet, it has about ~150hp and the torque comes on fairly quick for a 4-banger. We have that motor in one of our Taco's and with 5.29's and 35's it feels pretty "peppy".

I would say that is pretty high. I have a 3.4l v6 1998 with 124000 miles a k&n filter charger 3" lift 32 muds with pretty much every option (TRD,SR5, alarm stereo, extra cab you name it) and blue book is only approx. $10000. I know for a fact that you can get those cheaper and probably nicer. I saw a bunch while I was searching for mine last year. In my oppnion I was not satasfied with the 4cyl and the power, you would have to get the gearing for sure if you go with big tires...he 6cyl has good power I think 190 horsepower. I would keep looking....Hope this helps...
