newbie stub shaft question--2 actually
pulled some stubs for a project i am working on from a JY. noticed there were metal and rubber "seals" at the base of the shaft next to the yoke. not all shafts i have seen have these. are these just intended to keep dust/dirt/water out of the housing or do they serve a larger purpose? noticed on my 97 wrangler it has them but they look plastic? what gives?
2nd, how important are spindle bearings? i pulled the spindles along with the stubs. the bearing "look" to be in good shape. so really wondering if i should just reuse the ones in there or buy new ones?
