Chevy D60 outers into a Ford D60??
Hello All,
I came across a brand-new in box Chevy 35-spline outers and picked them up for next to nothing... ok $50 for the pair... I want to know if I can install them in my Ford D60 which came out of a 79 F350.I have heard the Chevy outers are different from the Fords, but in what way? Length? I plan on using Warn drive flanges. -Steve Last edited by CrazySteve; 02-20-2005 at 08:04 AM. Reason: want to subscribe |

Yep, the length is different. The chevys are longer by.6" (D60 bible). You might be able to machine them down and put in a new groove for the snapring (depending on how long the splines are). I have some 30 spline ford stubs I'll be more than happy to trade for your 35 spline chevys!

to make them fit you would have to also run chevy knuckles and spindles, or just dril chevy spindle to fit a ford Knuckle, then you would need to purchase some 35 spline hubs. I have seen some ppl shorten the chevy shafts, but then the spline contact is minimal and you just created a weak point (30 spline stock would probably be just as strong in this case.)
