NP203 to NP205 swap?

I sold the NP203 from the back of my Dodge 727A tranny because the combo was too long for the short wheelbase chassis (90") I was to frankenstein it into. I have a 23 spline output male and the 203 adapter, round six bolt. The question I have searched for and checked AA for is can I bolt up a NP205 with a shaft coupler, adapter etc.? Will the NP205 give enough clearance for a front driveshaft and that big 727 pan? The shorter length and better strength of the 205 would be the payoff. I don't have enough room for a doubler setup.
