Bleeding steering system

when you want to bleed air out of your steering system. you start the Jeep and let it idle then shut it off. jack it off the ground and you start turning steering wheel slowly from one stop to another, 20 times or so.
My question is during this whole process, do you leave the reservoir cap on or off.

i dont think it really matters. i left mine off. you want to keep turning lock to lock until no more air bubbles come up. that was why i did mine with cover off.
