Questions about 304 in a wrangler
Has anyone attempted this conversion?
First off, my wrangler has a 4.2 with the AX 15 / NP 231 combo The 4.2 could use rebuilt, but I would like to go larger instead of rebuilding, but instead of a chevy conversion, and having to buy a tranny / T-case combo with the engine. I have found a 304, bored 60, with a mild cam, for a reasonable price, and I was wondering if there are any issues about the conversion? I am planning on using the AX 15 and NP 231, simply because they are already there and I won't have to buy a Tranny and T-Case along with an engine, the only problem that I see that might arise is the slave cylinder, Can I use the slave cylinder on the 304 clutch and pressure plate, or have the 304 flywheel drilled and tapped to use the clutch and pressure plate from the current 4.2? frame mounts are. not a problem, they can be fabbed. Can anyone else see something that I have missed, or might have a problem with? Thanks for any help |
