ford 8"/9" aftermarket centerpin

i just got my 31spline mini-spool for my 8" and was curious if it'd be a smart choice to upgrade centerpin. currie says ill be fine with my 2.8 41:1 crawl and 33's...just lookin for more input. reason i didnt go full case is because i wanted to keep my 31spline shafts and nobody makes a 31spline locker for the 8". 9" mini-spool fits.

you would be a fool for not getting one, even with one, it's still the weak link..

last summer I went to "test" my new rear calipers on my truck. The brakes held, the cromomoly crosspin failed.. exploding the mini spoo, and carrier in the processes..
I spent the extra $100 on a full spool then, and have had zero issues.

I run 36's behind a 170 hp motor with 60:1 final ratio on my el cheapo 28 spline ford 9" (weak) with a factory xpin and have had no problems with the rear. He's light and underpowered with small tires and I assume a factory driveline, if everything is set up right, a d-shaft u-joint will go long before that xpin. If you need one, any race shop can get you one for $15 and there were a handful of vendors on ebay awhile back sell'em cheap.

i have a Durasparkd 2.8 with headers and exhaust, TK4 transmission, BW1350 case, heavy duty d-shaft. Currie says my 1330 u-joint will blow before the centerpin does. im running 32x10.5 SSR's and i have a final ratio of 41:1. the reason i bought the mini-spool instead of full spool or locker is because the 8" runs same mini as the 9" and it allows me to use 31spline shafts instead of 28spline shafts. thats for the current input though.
