new here, question about Z-71
My dad bought a 2003 sierra Z-71 reg cab long box a couple weeks ago and Im sure it sits a little higher than a regular 4x4. I searched the internet and cant find much, the little bit I did find one says its 2.7 inches higher and the other says theyre the same. I tried sending gm an email but theyre bein dumb and tellin me they cant answer such a basic question without my vin and on top of that they said they cant answer anything about options
So I decided that a forum would be the best way to find out and I stumbled upon you guys. So the question is, does a Z-71 sit higher? and if so how much, and how is the lift accompished, ie suspension lift, body lift etc. thanks in advance

i dont really think they are taller then the previous generation as i have seem them side by side. It really depends on what size tires are on it, air pressure, and how much the torsion bars are cranked. I think you are seein things

z71 have fact spring over rear axles. i also recently purchased a 91 z71 short bed k1500 stepside. have searched w/ no luck to find anything related to these. the s-series zr2 has 3 sizes over=31" tires and a slightly wider wheel base and fact suspension lift as well as bigger wo's and skid plates. so they are about 2" from susp and 1.5" from tires taller

Psst... they all do. Quote:

If the Z71 option (shocks, tires, skids) was anything like the S-series ZR2 option (frame, axles, cutout flares)... it might be worth talking about.

The NBS Z-71s and regular 4x4 sit the same, they have the same springs and factory 2" block. Try Gmfullsize.com or fullsizechevy.com for those kinds of questions

Hey asshole, I'm from the heart of America I and hate you too, so STFU. This is Pirate, not some entry-level forum. Pirate is for college level tech, this is kindergarten tech at best. So STFU and take your gay-ass question somewhere else. And to the other dumbasses in this thread, learn what this board is all about, and until you do, STFU. |

They sit the same but the 99 and up 1500 and 1500HD have an advantage over the Z71 because you can set the front preload at a higher level giving it 2-7/8" of lift with keys while the Z71 and older style 4x4's (88-98) you can only obtain 2" of lift....this is with the torsion bolt at factory setting but with just replacing torsion key and you can still crank from this point depending on how you want your ride....someone mentioned they all have the blocks in the back and this is not true....add a leaf to about 2-3 of these a day and some have them and some don't....someone also said something about springs being above the axle and this is true of all recently modern full size pickup trucks.
