Question How do I identify transfer case?

I have a 205-i transfer case I don't know what it came out of. How can I tell?
I think the last letter is an i maybe an L

Figure out witch are the drain and fill plugs. Turn it right side up. Determine if it is driver side drop or passenger side drop. Pass=Chevy Driver=Ford and I don't remember dodge(driver?).

If you still can't figure it out, you can always post up a pic.

fuzzy pic but it reads model 3 205, ratio 196, serial 2 16 78, assem.no. 465477

the 3 may have something to do with it, like it was the 3 verison, but thats just a guess.

Here is some quick tech on the NP205, may help in identification. Stolen I am sure from somewhere. I had it in a notepad doc.

The GM NP205 has a passenger side front ouput, and is availible in fixed or slip yoke rear outputs. Input gear configurations are availible in 10 spline, 27 spline, and 32 spline. The 10 and 27 spline versions use drivesleeves to mate to the transmission. Stock front output configuration for a GM is 30 spline.

The Ford NP205 has a drivers side front output, and is availible in a fixed yoke rear output. It has a 31 spline input gear, a 32 spline fixed rear output, and a 32 spline front output. Divorced Ford NP205's are availible.

The Dodge NP205 has a passenger side front output, and has a fixed yoke rear output and a 32 spline front output. Input gear configurations are availible in Standard 23 spline, or HD Diesel 29 spline (Cummins Motor Applications. Both The 23 and 29 spline applications use drivesleeves to mate to the tramission which are not included in the base price.
Divorced Dodge NP205's are availible.

You know, you could always start your own thread rather than resurrecting one from 2005...
