78 Ramcharger questions

its a 78 rc 4x4 (4x2) as of now since it has no front driveshaft or axles in it, but anyway it has a 318 with eddy carb and manifold, rusty ass headers, straight pipe as of now since i cut the old exhaust off, idk wut kinda tranny is in it but i found somethin that said something like "torque flite 727" i believe, so im guessin its got a 727. Question about the 727, is that a three speed or wut, cuz the truck will shift into the gears but once im goin about 35 or wutever down the road and mash the throttle it doesnt kick down a gear or anything, its just like a slug, is thier sumthin i can check to see wuts wrong with her, and why would the transfer case kick out of low or high if i throw it in reverse and drive. i have more questions but i didnt wanna make this too long to where noone willl read it.

It doesn't kick down because the kickdown linkage is not adjusted properly. There is a rod that goes from the drivers side of the 727 pan up to the drivers side of the carb. This linkage needs to be adjusted to be longer so that the tranny will kick down once the throttle is pushed harder.
You'll have to explain the other problems a little better before i can help with those

my problem with the transfer case is that it will pop out of low or high and go into neutral making the truck go into neutral, so then i have to stop adn slam it back into gear, most of the time to get it into low i have to kick it in and if someone is with me they have to hold thier foot on it so i wont pop out of low while we're drivin or wutever, one reason why i might think it kicks out is when i put it in reverse, like the whole tranny or transfer case moves like crazy(up or down motion) then when i pop it out of reverse it moves back making it pop out of low. The mounts under the tranny on the crossmember are just about gone, litterally, so could that make the whole assembly move or flex that much to make it pop out of gear, and if so, could i buy those mounts at a regular parts store, like say autozone or discount auto parts.

sounds like you should put a new tranny mount and also check your motor mounts. If the tranny mount is bad then odds are you've been putting added stress on the motor mounts and have trashed them as well. And yes you can pick those up at about any parts store.
This could fix your problem of the t-case jumping out of gear but no way to tell until you fix it first.
Also the t-case you have is probably an NP203. The Lo and Hi are basically 2WD. When you put it in Lo Loc and Hi Loc you are locking the front output to the rear output and therefore having 4WD.

wow, thanx alot, yea the previous owner perty much beat the crap out of it, ive already replaced the headlights, slip yoke on rear driveshaft, u joint, now i got brake pads and new calipers since the old ones were shot and rusted and wutever from sittin for two years, but yea those transmission mounts are wasted and alot of movement occurs when puttin it in revers and then back to drive, vise versa, this truck is gonna love me cuz im gonna fix it back up with good parts and litterally not care about it and just trash it, the guy before from lookin at it just didnt give a crap about it, those people dont need to own a vehicle.

those worn out tranny mounts wil also cause added wear on the slip yokes and ujoints. I'd get those replaced asap as they're just costing you money in their current state. and yes, you have a full time case. With no front shaft and axles it'll be fine, but when you put them back in, the added drag will cost you gas mileage. I'd look for a dedicated part time case from a later model Dodge.
