14 bolt BOM look-up

Hey guys,

any idea how I can go about checking which year my 14Bolt I found is from?? I know on 60's you can search the BOM number. Does the same apply for 14B's??

Just trying to decide if its 1st gen or 2nd, if it uses different pinion bearing etc as listed in the bible. Yes Ive searched and read the bible.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Seller mentioned it was out of a Scottsdale 20? Does that make sense? Not a chev guy...

the latter ones have many ribs on the bottom of the housing, spaced out every inch or so. the early ones dont.

So thats it? Just look at the ribbing to determine if its generation 1 or generation 2? I noticed lots of the parts are sperated by 88 and up or 88 and down.

So can anyone confirm, it doesnt matter if its a 76 or 86, its still generation 1...etc.

right, they are mechanically the same. there a little housing differences, but that is unimportant.

also, in case you didnt know, 1 ton and 3/4 ton have different spring widths. and 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton have the same spring widths. the 1 tons are about 2" narrower.

Thanks for the confirmation my friend.

Spring pads dont matter, will be buzzing them off anyways.

Cheers,

There's also a difference in the pinion support. It makes a difference if you order the wrong install kit.

Call Reider Racing or Randy's with the casting number on the center section and they can tell you which it is.
