Front CV to rear?

Hey all, I have a V6 88 4runner and am lifting her up with some 35"s. I now need to mod my rear driveshaft and would like to go to CV in the rear shaft. I am taking a front CV from a 1983 to make a front square D-shaft. The front CV from my IFS I am going to put in the rear.

Will the front IFS CV hold up to punishment in the rear?

If there is another thread about this, please point me in the right direction. I searched and came up empty handed.

hey buddy here are some links I have because I am doing the exact same thing right now.

I thought the 83 pattern was different, had different sized bolt holes or something? Anyways youcould always rotate it and redrill the flange.

This link will tell you how to modify the front IFS cv which is limited to 22 degrees to work in the rear since you will probably need to to bend more than 22 degrees. This allows you to run it up to 35 degrees.

The toyota shaft parts are kind of a pain to take apart but they are very strong. Much stronger than the common spicer 1310 parts used for domestic vehicles of this size. The front and rear components are for the most part of equal strength.

You can also read in the faq about different square shaft building ideas.

IIRC, toyota driveline parts are rated as strong as some one ton parts.
