What do you guys do with your junk?
What does everybody do with junk body panels, parts, whole vehicles, etc that arent worth selling, but cant be rolled away? The reason Im asking is because I have a friend with an old non running GM truck I want to snag the 14 bolt from. He said I can have whatever I want as long as I take it away. Thing is, once I gut the thing, how do I get rid of a rear end-less truck (read: cant roll) before the city comes around and nails me with a non running vehicle ticket?

I usually take the truck to a wrecking yard, tell them they can have the truck for free if I can use there forklift and some tools to take out the rear end. Then they have a free truck, I get my parts, and I go home happy.

dont bother bringing em to the dump if you have a local metal yard near ya..... most of them will pay a couple cents a pound (we get like .04/lb) for heavy steel scrap..... its a pretty good deal if youve got a motor and frame....... they normally dont give you any cash for light metals like body panels though, but they will let you dispose of it on thier pile......

I purchased a rusted Int'l Traveller ($25 Buy It Now on Ebay) for the rear axle. It was sitting in a field, and I had to winch it on the trailer. Once home, I removed the axles (sold front for $125) and dropped it on the frame. Took the hulk to the metal recycler, they picked it off the trailer with a crane and gave me $114. Didn't have a title for it.

Post up the scrap you have and approx. pounds on your local Craigslist in the free sections and the Scrapper dudes will come and pick it up --- You'll probably have to fight them away --- I got 20 emails last time I had about 200#s of scrap at my garage.
