2" IFS lift questions
I have a 90% stock 87 4runner. Looking at lifting it 2" by installing a SAW torsion bar and cranking it up a little. I would also like to put 33s on it.
Rear end will probably be an add-leaf w/ shock or high arch leaf. My question is, is there anything I have to do with the rest of the truck to make this possible ie. gear ratio, driveline, stearing coloum. Please keep in mind, this is not an xtreme off road vehicle. It is mostly for playing in the mud and medium trails. Any other ideas would greatly be appreciated. |

I put a 3 inch bodie lift on my 88 4 runner and put 33's. I had to crank the front just a little and looks good and only cost me 89.00 for the blocks from summit. Yook me about 4 hours to put it on bye my self. I do about the same wheeling and I have not had any problems. I don't think 2 inches will cut it for wheel to clear the front fenders..Good luck

This stealthy IFS in our club has a 1" body lift and slightly cranked t-bars to clear 33's.

I drove a 88 with 32's and it was a dog even with the v6 to get up to speed down the highway. I would lift it, put the tires on it, drive it, and see what else you need to do.

Check out 4 Crawlers site for this appiication. I would recomend the ball joint spacers vs the torsion bars, much much better ride and you will get some flex. The cranked t bars will knock the fillings out of your teeth.
I run a 1 inch body lift, ball joint spacers, and some Chevy rear springs and I clear 35's with some trimming.

No lift, No torsion bar crank. 33x12.5x15 BFG KO's on stock offset 15x7 rims. Truck is totally stock otherwise except for an extra leaf in the rear to take care of a sag problem. Just hammered the pinch weld flat to the body mount and the inner lip of the fender next to it and trimmed the plastic liner. The key is the wheel offset.
